2022 Toyota Land Cruiser now patrolling the streets of Dubai
All-new Toyota Land Cruiser is Dubai's latest patrol vehicle

Barely a week passed since Toyota launched the redesigned Land Cruiser and it's about to take on a tough assignment. Recently, the Dubai Police Force received a whole load of them and they're ready for active duty.

How many did the police order for patrol? Al-Futtaim Toyota, the local distributor for the marque in the UAE, gave 50 of these Land Cruisers to the Dubai Police Force, Dubai Civil Defence Force, and Abu Dhabi Police. They even outfitted them with the necessary equipment along the way. What's even more impressive is the fact that these are not the base variants. At the very least, these Land Cruiser patrol vehicles are the mid-spec GXR.
That means the lucky officers who get to do rounds in this SUV get luxuries such as a sunroof, tri-zone automatic control, and ventilated seats, ideal for patrolling in the desert. Not only that, they get a 12.3-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a 14-speaker JBL sound system, not that they'll be able to use it during their shifts.

Should they need to head for the dunes, the Land Cruiser GXR is equipped to take on that task. This model comes standard with a rear and center differential lock to prevent it from bogging down in the sand. It also has Crawl Control for good measure, so it can keep on trucking no matter the conditions.
Powering the police-spec Land Cruiser is the same 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 from the standard models. That engine is good for 409 PS and 650 Nm of torque, which should be more than enough to respond to callouts quickly. Besides, we've already seen how sprightly this two-ton beast can get off its feet as it's capable of hitting 100 km/h in about seven seconds. The 110-liter fuel tank should also be sufficient for those long shifts on the road.

The Land Cruiser joins the Dubai Police Force's fleet of other models such as the Nissan Patrol, BMW 5 Series, and Toyota Camry, among others. It's also alongside their exotic fleet that includes Bugattis, McLarens, and Bentley's, just to name a few. While those cars can hunt down speeders in no time, the Land Cruiser can keep on chasing them if they head off-road.
