2022 Suzuki Ertiga to get hybrid tech, 6-speed A/T
All-new Suzuki Ertiga to get a bevy of upgrades including design, powertrain, and amenities

It’s been nearly 8 years since the Suzuki Ertiga debuted in the Philippines. First launched way back in mid-2014, it serves as the brand’s compact MPV and takes on the likes of the Toyota Avanza and Mitsubishi Xpander.
In 2019, the automaker launched the all-new Ertiga which now features a sleeker design, a more powerful 1.5-liter engine, and more standard equipment. Fast forward to 2022, and it seems Suzuki is already gearing up to reveal the next-generation Ertiga.
Maruti Suzuki has just released a teaser image of the 2022 Ertiga. Based on the photo provided, it appears the MPV will receive a bolder look that includes a new grille, restyled headlights, and what appears to be a sportier front bumper.

While Suzuki did not release any more photos of the MPV, they did mention several important technologies the all-new Ertiga will receive. For starters, it’s set to be powered by the next-generation K-series 1.5-liter Dual VVT engine with Progressive Smart Hybrid Technology.
Moreover, the powertrain will benefit from a new six-speed automatic transmission complete with paddle shifters. Combined with the hybrid powertrain, it’s poised to be more fuel-efficient than the non-hybrid model we currently have.
A new media display will also be making its way inside the 2022 Ertiga. It will measure 7-inches in size and will come with Suzuki’s SmartPlay Pro Touch Screen infotainment system.

“With over 750,000 delighted customers, Ertiga has been a game-changer in India’s MPV market. We are pleased to introduce the next-gen Ertiga, that redefines style, space, technology, safety, comfort, and convenience of traveling together. The next-gen Ertiga will have thoughtful new-age features, an upgraded powertrain, and advanced 6-speed automatic transmission. We are confident that the next-gen Ertiga will further delight customers, offering them a more fuel-efficient, powerful, technologically advanced, and stylish companion for long journeys together with their loved ones,” said Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Director (Marketing & Sales) at Maruti Suzuki Limited.
The automaker is now accepting pre-bookings of the 2022 Ertiga in India. No reveal dates have been announced, but it could make its official debut very soon. The only question now is, will future Ertiga models in the country come with the same hybrid technology?
