2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class debuts for PHP 5.390M

After making its regional debut at the Bangkok International Motor Show last year, Mercedes-Benz distributor Auto Nation Group (ANG) has officially launched its refreshed executive sedan.

This is the 2022 E-Class, and it’s now in the Philippines. Featuring a stylish new look inside and out, the luxury sedan gets a more upscale design, a more high-tech and comfortable interior, and a long list of advanced safety features.

Starting with its exterior, the E-Class gets a more dynamic design. No longer borrowing styling cues from the S-Class, the updated executive four-door now looks more like a stretched CLS.

It gets a new front end that features a revised grille complete with chrome diamond pins and high-gloss black inserts. Also present are a pair of redesigned LED headlights, restyled LED daytime running lights, and a tweaked hood.

Aside from its face, Mercedes-Benz was busy changing up the rear of the E-Class. The two-piece LED taillights have been updated and now wrap around the quarter fenders giving the vehicle a wider and stronger appearance. Meanwhile, it also gets the new geometrically-designed LEDs that replace the crystalline optics of the previous design.

As an added bonus, the E-Class is available with the AMG Line body styling. It comes with a set of 19-inch AMG 5-twin spoke lightweight alloy wheels painted in Tantalite Gray. Paired with a high-sheen finish, the distinct set of alloys provide the 2022 E-Class with an unmistakable look.

Open the doors, and the passengers are immediately greeted by dual 12.3-inch displays arranged side-by-side. Powered by the latest MBUX infotainment system, it connects to your smart devices via Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Bluetooth; an intelligent voice command system can be activated by saying ‘Hey Mercedes’. Don’t expect to find a scroll-wheel on the center console as it now has a new touchpad for easier menu navigation.

Other available features present in the 2022 E-Class include power-closing doors, wireless charging for mobile devices, a Burmester surround sound system, electric roller blinds for the back window and rear side windows, automatic climate control, 64-color LED ambient lighting, sport seats with horizontal quilting, Articol leather with Dinamica microfiber interior, brushed stainless steel AMG sport pedals, power-adjustable front seats with memory function, split-folding rear seats, and a Nappa leather-wrapped steering wheel.

Under the hood, the 2022 E-Class is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. It makes 197 PS at 5500 - 6100 rpm along with 320 Nm of torque at 1650 - 4000 rpm. Power is sent to the wheels via a 9-speed automatic transmission.

Mercedes-Benz says it can go from 0 - 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds and reach an estimated top speed of 240 km/h. Compared to the 2022 5 Series, the updated E-Class is 0.5 seconds faster from 0 - 100 km/h and has a slightly higher top speed.

When it comes to keeping the occupants safe, the E-Class comes with a wide array of active and passive safety systems. These include anti-lock brakes, active brake assist, electronic stability program, acceleration slip regulation, hill-start assist, tire pressure monitoring system, cruise control, and 9 airbags. It also comes with a Pre-Safe system, Attention Assist drowsiness detection, pedestrian protection with active bonnet, and Active Parking Assist with reverse camera.

The 2022 E-Class E 200 AMG Line is now available at all Mercedes-Benz dealerships in the Philippines and retails for PHP 5,390,000.
