2022 Honda HR-V nets 5-star safety rating from ASEAN NCAP

Honda is walking the talk when it comes to making roads safe for everyone. After getting multiple awards on the 10th anniversary of the New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asia Countries (ASEAN-NCAP) earlier in the year, another Honda vehicle has been awarded a five-star safety rating by the organization.

This time, it's the HR-V crossover. Honda's subcompact high-rider has scored a perfect five stars across assessments in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), Child Occupant Protection (COP), Safety Assists, and Motorcyclist Safety (MS).

In terms of AOP, which is composed of frontal impact, side-impact and head protection technology, the all-new HR-V scored 35 out of a possible 40 points.

Meanwhile, for child occupant protection, the all-new HR-V scored 17.81 out of 20 as it impressed in the dynamic tests, plus the child restraint and detection systems.

Safety features that include the Honda Sensing advanced driver assist system enabled the all-new HR-V to score 18.57 out of 20 in the criteria for standard safety assists, where effective braking and avoidance, seatbelt reminders, autonomous emergency braking, and advanced safety assist technologies were assessed.

Lastly, the criteria for motorcyclist safety included blind spot detection, rear visualization, headlight, and pedestrian and advanced motorcyclist safety technologies. The all-new HR-V scored 10 out of 20.

In total, the Honda HR-V garnered a total of 81.38 out of 100 in the 2021-2025 ASEAN NCAP tests, giving it a maximum rating of five stars.
