2022 Honda e:NS1 could be the electric HR-V we need in PH

Don't try to adjust your screens, this is not a new variant of the all-new Honda HR-V. This is the 2022 Honda e:NS1, the automaker's latest electric crossover for the Chinese market. Based on the third-generation HR-V, the e:NS1 is now on sale in the People's Republic and serves as the brand's stepping stone for those who want a high-riding EV.

But what makes it different compared to the regular HR-V? For starters, the e:NS1 sits on the e:N Architecture F. This serves as the e:NS1's electric powertrain that consists of a front-mounted electric motor that makes 201 PS and 310 Nm of torque. Electric juice comes courtesy of a 68.8-kWh lithium-ion battery pack that gives the crossover up to 510 km of range based on China's CLTC cycle.

Style-wise, the e:NS1 resembles the HR-V's overall shape and profile but since this doesn't come with an engine, it has a closed-off grille for better aerodynamics. It also comes with sleek bumpers, stylish multi-spoke alloy wheels, and blue halo accents on the Honda badge to indicate that this is indeed an electric model.

There's also the e:NP1 which is nearly identical to the e:NS1. However, this particular model is slightly different as it comes with a more traditional crossover look complete with sporty bits. From the large blacked-out grille, two-tone roof, dark-painted alloy wheels, and lip kit on the bumpers, the e:NP1 is essentially the more dapper looking of the duo.

Inside, occupants will be greeted by a large tablet-like touchscreen infotainment. It's available in both crossovers and measures 15.1-inch in size. There's also a wide 10.25-inch full LCD screen for the driver which shows the gauges, as well as other relevant information.

Other available features present inside the two crossovers include dual-zone automatic climate control, button-style gear selector, two-tone interior with leather upholstery, intelligent voice control, augmented reality navigation, Honda Sensing, and LED ambient lighting.

The e:NS1 and e:NP1 are the first of 10 e:N Series models Honda plans to launch in China by 2027. With that, we can expect Honda to launch more electric models in the not-so-distant future. The only question now is, could Honda actually offer these electric models outside of the People's Republic?
