2022 Chery Arrizo 8 is a turbocharged Camry fighter
Arrizo 8 is Chery's take on a sporty midsize (turbocharged) sedan

Crossovers and SUVs may be all the rage today, but for markets like China, sedans are still a favorite amongst car buyers. In fact, Chery just released the first images of its latest four-door called the Arrizo 8.
It was originally set for launch at this year's Beijing Auto Show. But due to the event's postponement, Chery decided to simply release several images of the all-new midsize sedan. Based on the images and its size, it seems like the Arrizo 8 is set to take on the likes of the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord.

Featuring a long hood and short deck design, the Arrizo 8 is one sleek-looking four-door. Combined with a bold front grille, eye-catching LED headlights, stylish alloy wheels, and distinct LED taillights, Chery's newest midsize sedan definitely looks the part of an executive sedan. Last but not least, the Arrizo 8 gets dual exhausts, faux corner air intakes, as well as aggressive bumpers that give it a sportier vibe.
Like the exterior, Chery was also busy making sure the Arrizo 8's interior is as sophisticated and sleek. It gets a digital cockpit courtesy of two 12.3-inch displays – one serves as the instrument cluster while the other is the touchscreen infotainment system. Meanwhile, thin aircon vents, along with what appears to be a touch panel for the climate control system, give the sedan a minimalist design. As for the center console, there's an electro-mechanical gear selector, a drive mode selector, a center glove box with an integrated armrest, and what looks to be a charging pad for mobile phones.

Also worth mentioning in the Arrizo 8 is its unique two-tone finish. It's actually reminiscent of the blue-white finish seen on the Geely Emgrand and can be seen on the dashboard, leather seats, door cards, and the center console.
Two engine choices will be available in the 2022 Arrizo 8. First up is a 1.6-liter turbocharged inline-four that makes 197 PS along with 290 Nm of torque. The other engine is a more potent 2.0-liter turbo that generates 254 PS and 390 Nm of torque. Power is then sent to a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission driving the front wheels.

The all-new Arrizo 8 is expected to arrive in Chinese dealerships later this year and could be available in different variants. While it could prove to be a suitable contender against the Toyota Camry, we won't be surprised if Chery will not bring this to the Philippines. After all, the midsize sedan market is shrinking thanks to the continued rise of SUVs and crossovers. Still, we have to hand it to Chery for continuing to make big sedans in this day & age.
