1.6-km CAVITEX C5 Link no longer toll-free

Motorists who frequently take the CAVITEX-C5 Link will now have to pay a fee to use the elevated expressway. After opening to the public earlier this year, Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation South (MPTC South) has announced that they will now collect toll fees from motorists who want to use the 1.6-km extension.

Effective yesterday November 27, 2022, the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) issued a Notice to Start Collection to CAVITEX Infrastructure Corporation (CIC), a subsidiary of MPTC. As a result, the following provisional toll rates shall be applied to CAVITEX C5 Link; PHP 35 for Class 1 vehicles, PHP 69 for Class 2 vehicles, and PHP 104 for Class 3 vehicles. Compared to the provisional toll fees first proposed last August, the new toll rate is actually cheaper by several Pesos.

Opened to the public last August 14, the 1.6-km extension serves as the expressway’s Segment 3.2. This allows for more convenient access and improved travel time for motorists bound for C5 Road in Taguig from Merville, Paranaque, and vice versa.

The opening of the new segment meant MPTC also had to introduce new traffic schemes in the area to better manage traffic flow. Last but not least, CAVITEX management opened a new Merville Exit Ramp last October to cater to motorists heading to Merville.

The entire CAVITEX C5 Link will span a total of 7.7 kilometers and connect to CAVITEX by 2023. This will help reduce travel time for motorists going to Makati, Taguig, and Pasay (and vice versa) from CAVITEX by around 30 to 45 minutes. More importantly, MPTC South and CAVITEX believe that this will help decongest other major thoroughfares like EDSA, and MIA Road.
