Trucks temporarily banned on Roxas Blvd due to road repairs

Truckers will have to find another way to get to their destinations without having to pass through Roxas Boulevard. This comes after the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced that trucks are temporarily banned from passing through the aforementioned boulevard.

Under MMDA Resolution No. 22-16, trucks with a gross capacity weight of more than 4,500 kg are prohibited to travel along Roxas Boulevard. This is to give the Department of Public Works & Highways (DPWH) time to repair the damaged segments along the major roadway, particularly the one in front of the United States Embassy.

With heavy trucks banned from passing through the said boulevard, the MMDA has advised big rigs coming from South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) to head straight to Osmena Highway to Quirino Avenue, turn left to Plaza Dilao Boulevard toward Quirino Extension, left on United Nations Avenue, turn right to Romualdez, turn left towards Ayala Boulevard or P. Burgos Avenue, then make a right on Bonifacio Drive to their destinations.

Meanwhile, trucks coming from Port Area are advised to make a left on P. Burgos Avenue or Ayala Boulevard, turn right towards San Marcelino, make a left heading to Quirino Avenue, then turn right on Osmena Highway towards SLEX.

With no exact date as to when trucks will be allowed to pass through Roxas Boulevard, truckers have no choice but to use the alternate routes provided by the MMDA in order to make their deliveries. However, Acting MMDA Chairman Carlo Dimayuga III assured truckers that the ban is only temporary. Once the repairs are complete, trucks will once again be allowed to pass through Roxas Boulevard.
