Fuso PH names new president

Sojitz Fuso Philippines (SFP), the general distributor of Fuso trucks and buses in the country, is starting a new fiscal year this April. Like many automotive companies, particularly the Japanese, they practice the tradition of bringing in new leadership during these times.

As of  April 1, 2022, Yosuke Nishi takes over as the new president and CEO of SFP. Nishi has succeeded the position of Yoshihisa Hosaka, who will be assigned to the Sojitz Corporation Head Quarters in Tokyo, Japan to fulfill a new role for markets in a few African countries as well as Mauritius, Sri Lanka, and Saudi Arabia.

During Mr. Hosaka’s term, SFP sales grew by 11% despite the economic uncertainty due to the pandemic. SFP also managed to launch the all-new Fuso Canter 6-wheeler models and the dealer network.

Nishi, on the other hand, used to serve as the president and CEO of Sojitz G Auto Philippines, the authorized importer and distributor of Geely cars in the country. His position was then succeeded by Yugo Kiyofuji.

“We have great expectations for Fuso this year, with clear plans to focus on the acceleration of network expansion and strengthening our market presence in the key areas. I want to assure our customers and partners that SFP will continue to provide the high-quality service, customer satisfaction, and remarkable experience with the Fuso brand” said Nishi.

Fuso vehicles have been sold in the Philippines since 1969. It is known as one of the leading Japanese commercial vehicle manufacturers across many markets, primarily for its high-quality products. The current Fuso range in the Philippines is composed of light, medium, heavy-duty trucks, light buses, and modern PUVs.

Together with the introduction of the new President and CEO, SFP has also relocated its corporate headquarters from Alabang to Quezon City.
