DPWH: EDSA Busway will remain operational amid EDSA rehab
EDSA rehabilitation will first start along Quezon City/Caloocan boundary

It's official, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has announced that the major rehabilitation of EDSA will begin by the end of March 2025. This was confirmed by the agency as DPWH-NCR is actively preparing to implement the rehabilitation works by segments.
One segment of EDSA will undergo repair works which will start in the northbound portion from Quezon City/Caloocan boundary to Monumento. However, one of the biggest concerns from the upcoming rehabilitation works is that the EDSA Busway could be closed temporarily during repair works.

The DPWH assures the public that operations of the EDSA Busway will continue despite the rehabilitation. However, a portion of the busway will be temporarily relocated to its adjacent lane to make way for road repairs. Once the closed segment has been rehabilitated, the EDSA Busway will move back to its original lane to accommodate regular operations. Meanwhile, construction work will move to the second lane from the EDSA Busway up to the outer lane, one at a time.
Work on the southbound portions will begin as soon as funds have been released and the contract for its rehabilitation is approved. To minimize traffic flow disruption, the DPWH said that rehabilitation works will be done 24 hours a day to fast-track its completion. Motorists are advised of potential traffic slowdowns in affected areas and are encouraged to access other lanes.

As for the rehabilitation works itself, the DPWH will use reinforced concrete to strengthen the road against high volume of vehicles. Asphalt overlay works will include anti-rutting and cracking to increase the road's durability. The drainage system will also be improved with the use of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipes.
With the rehabilitation works set to begin by the end of the month, motorists and commuters are advised to take note of possible slowdown of traffic while repairs are being done along EDSA.
