The 6th and final leg of the 2006 PLDT MyDSL - REDHORSE Beer Autocross series held last September 24, 2006 at the Bradco Avenue, Aseana Business Park, Paranque City featured exciting racing action as well as a car display. A splendid way to end the season.
Decking it out again was veteran driver Doc Peewee Medniola and young ace Uly Maningding, who fought in close competition in the Open Classes B and C, Experienced Modified B and C, and finally the Rear-Wheel Driver Class. Douglas Maningding Sr., came in with the third best time of the day, while edging his son in Experience Modified C. Still showing that experience matters, Mendiola set the best time of the day at 37.59 seconds besting Maningding's 37.6 by a hundreth of a second. Novice best time of the day went to the younger Maningding, Douglas Jr. clocking in at 40.33 seconds, besting Joey Escalante and Nino Sarte who came in second and third respectively.
With the success of the go-kart division, The Manila Speedzone once again brought in their fun karts. Gilbert Gallego aced out the rest with a 40.37 second best time as Danby Yaptinchay and TP Yaptinchay rounded up the top three finishers.
An exciting sideshow for the event also was the duel between Douglas Maningding Sr. and Hans Desmet with the former driving a car, while the latter drove a shifter go-kart. It was a very close duel, with Desmet leading by a fraction, only to lose control and spin out at the last section of obstacles before the home stretch, handing over the win to Maningding. Not wanting to be outdone by the seniors, Uly Maningding and Danby Yaptinchay also did their car versus go-kart duel thereafter, with Maningding making his father proud by winning as well, as Yaptinchay DNF'd.
