2011 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion

While most of the world's vintage car collectors are busy babysitting their cars, making sure that they are free from dirt and scratch on their ultra modern garage, a select few are prepping their classics and making sure that they are race ready for the once a year classic car week event over at Monterey, California. Motorsport contributor JP Cariño shares to in photographs his experience of the 2011 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion.

As part of Monterey Peninsula's Classic Car Week, the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion attracts thousands of car fans yearly as they watch historic race cars compete with each other as they once did. From the cars to the driver's outfit, everything seems like a blast from the past. Fans from all over the world get to see the cars up close from the open paddocks or watch them battle each other out on the famous Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

The event welcomes more than 500 authentic and historic racecars representing almost every decade of motorsports history. The cars are divided into 17 groups according to age and engine size. The Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion definitely shows how passionate these classic car owners are in preserving motorsports history.

The 37th Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion will be held August 17-19 this year and features the iconic Shelby Cobra as its marque.
