2027 Porsche 911 GT3 S/C is the 9000 rpm open-top sports car we desire
2027 911 GT3 S/C revealed as open-top member of Porsche’s GT family

In this era of hybrids and EVs, there’s not a lot of sports cars around that you can buy off the dealership equipped with a high-revving, naturally-aspirated engine. Which is why the Porsche 911 GT3 is special. But now, its boxer engine can be heard revving to 9000 rpm with an open top.
Porsche has revealed the 911 GT3 S/C, which is essentially a 911 GT3 that comes with a fully-electric folding convertible roof. While Porsche already made an open-top GT3 before with the 911 Speedster, it won’t be a limited-edition model this time. The 911 GT3 S/C is an addition to Porsche’s series-production models in the GT family.

The S/C stands for “Sport Cabriolet”, which is somewhat an elegant description of what you’re getting. The rear section of the 911 GT3 S/C was borrowed from the standard open-top 911s, which means its electric soft top can also be opened and closed within 12 seconds, and at speeds of up to 50 km/h.
Adding all those mechanisms would, of course, add weight. To offset that, Porsche fitted the limited-edition 911 S/T’s carbon fiber doors, hood, front wheel arches, anti-roll bars, underbody shear plate, plus the 20-inch front and 21-inch rear magnesium wheels to the 911 GT3 S/C. Other measures include standard carbon ceramic brakes and a lithium-ion 12V battery to bring the weight down.

That allows the GT3 S/C to tip the scales at just 1,497 kg – just some 30 kg heavier than the previous-generation, limited-run 911 Speedster.
The look, as expected, is very similar to the 911 GT3 coupe. Only this time, Prosche added some distinguishing details for the S/C, which include a black A-pillar, a black protection film on the rear wheel arches, and a Gurney flap on the rear lip spoiler.

Inside, the S/C is strictly a two-seater with power-adjustable sports seats, and can be configured with the red tartan interior. The GT3 S/C logo is embroidered on the rear bulkhead trim, but the rest of the things inside are pretty much similar to the coupe, including the dual screens and the turn dial start/stop switch.
Likewise, the 4.0-liter, naturally aspirated flat-six engine that revs up to 9000 rpm is shared with the 911 GT3, producing 510 PS and 450 Nm of torque. Much to the delight of driving enthusiasts, the 911 GT3 S/C is only available with the 6-speed, short-ratio manual transmission. In terms of straight line performance, the 911 GT3 S/C accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, and reaches a top speed of 313 km/h.

Porsche also fitted the GT3 Touring’s softer suspension tune for the GT3 S/C to live up more to that “driver’s car” quality, being a full-on time attack machine for the track.
Porsche Philippines already has the 2027 911 GT3 S/C on its website, which means orders are likely already open. Be prepared to shell out a few million pesos more for the drop-top version, though. In the US market, the 911 GT3 S/C already commands a USD 35,500 (more than PHP 2.1 million) premium over the standard GT3 Coupe. Woo-wee.
